Network build and restore

[zh_CN]

Automatic networking

This chapter mainly introduces tree structures and the process of topology generation. Mesh topology does not have a networking connection process for communication, and its network recovery is a process of updating the network topology.

BK Wi-Fi Mesh adopts a designated root node method. For a tree-like structure, after the user specifies the root node, the remaining nodes will complete the automatic networking process through Wi-Fi scanning and connection. Each node will join the network layer by layer based on the distribution of surrounding nodes.

The networking results are related to the power-on sequence of the nodes.

Both APP-based network configuration and cloud-based network configuration are equivalent to synchronous power on, please refer to: Network Distribution and Control. This chapter mainly introduces the differences between the synchronized power-on and asynchronous power-on processes in the network setup with existing configurations.

The following figture shows the networking result of synchronous power on.

sync_power_on

Synchronous power on

For LAN, if the dedignated root node not powered on, the other nodes will wait for the designated root node to power on and join the network in sequence.

lan_async_power_on_en

Asynchronous power on of the root node for LAN

For WAN, if the designated root node is powered on too late, a root node will be generated from the nodes that powered on first anf form a network. After the designated root node is powered on, the previously generated root node will give way to the designated root node, and the network will update according to the designated root node.

wan_async_power_on_en

Asynchronous power on of the root node for WAN

Similarly, the networking results of asynchronous power on of the second layer nodes will also be different. The nodes that power on later will join the already formed network and will not affect the existing network. Therefore, the network formed by asynchronous power on may not be the optimal result.

2rd_async_power_on

Asynchronous power on of the second layer node

Therefore, it is recommended that users synchronously power on all nodes or power on sequentially according to the expected network result.

In addition, the networking results are also releated to the distribution of node locations. If there are also other nodes reound a node that can be connected, the node will bot be able to join the network.

node_long_distance_en

Node E cannot join the network

Therefore, it is recommended that users arrange the position of nodes reasonably.

Automatic repair in case of network failure

In BK Wi-Fi Mesh network, when a network failure occures, such as a node losing power or connection break, the network will automatically repair to ensure its normal operation.

In BK Wi-Fi Mesh LANand WANnetworks, when the root node fails, a new root node will be genarated in the network. when other nodes fail, the connected nodes will connect to other nodes.

It should be noted that the distribution of node positions can affect network recovery. After the failure of node Cin the following fighre, the connected nodes E and F can not be restored due to their distance from the network and the absense of any aonnected network nodes in surrounding area.

can_not_restore

Node E and F cannot restored

But if the placement of node E and F are slightly adjusted, they can successfully perform network recovery when node C fails.

can_restore

Node E and F can be restored after adjustting their positions

Therefore, it is recommended that users arrange the position of nodes reasonably.
